I never thought I could feel this way! After 3 hours of yoga per day in the most
beautiful serene place—my body, my skin, my pace, my head and my attitude are lifted
in a way I've never felt before (And I have arm muscles after only a week!). The
SomaYoga retreat was yoga that is tailored to everyone's individual needs. It is
yoga that is challenging but doesn't move too fast. It makes you very strong. It
encourages a tremendous sense of calm that focuses on the mind/body connection in
an open and supportive way. I never felt I had the time to do a retreat until I
finally decided that I really needed a break. I realize now how much stress can
be relieved in a week and how a new path can be paved toward health. Thank you James,
I'll see you next year!

I have been practicing power yoga for the last 4 years and it was not until the
recent retreat with James that I became aware of what the true core of my practice
was.† James’ techniques made me experience my body in a way I never imagined. It
taught me that flexibility, balance and strength are not terms only applicable to†the
body, but to the mind and the soul.† It gave me the tools to grasp something I had
just very vaguely sensed during my life and have looked for in so many wrong ways...
stillness and peace of mind.† His knowledge and dedication to the students is deep,
powerful and truly inspirational.†I am so very grateful that I had the chance to
experience it,†because it†encouraged me to continue in this beautiful path of self-discovery.†It
gave me the confidence to take his SomaYoga Teacher Training course and now I am
teaching and just opened my own yoga studio.

I recently started taking class with James and after a few months of classes, I
went on a retreat in Mexico. It was amazing. The classes were very intense and thorough,
working all parts of the being. Having yoga twice a day really helped me improve
my practice. The focus on yoga without distractions showed me how important it is
in my life. The resort and food was great. It got my batteries recharged and I am
much more focused and motivated.

I had only been practicing with James for a few months when I decided to join a
retreat to Mexico. James set us up in a beautiful place, created a great shared
frame of mind, and gave personal attention that you just can't get in regular class.
I was amazed by how much progress I made in just a week by focusing on yoga with
no distractions. It really solidified my dedication to my yoga practice.

The retreat in Tulum, Mexico was, by far, one of the most relaxing and invigorating
experiences in my life. Tucked away in a quiet resort with little huts that were
scattered along maze-like sand-covered paths, I had time to replenish my physical
and mental energy. During two yoga classes each day, one in the morning and one
in the afternoon, I was able to focus in on poses that I struggled with for years.
The intensity and frequency of the yoga practice allowed for me to make several
breakthroughs in many postures. Without the distractions of work and other daily
stresses, I could really feel my hips opening and my body relaxing. When I was not
in yoga class I spent time reflecting on my life. Although I had the option to explore
nature reserves and ancient, underground rivers, I chose to spend my time at the
resort on the beach or reading in my hammock. The food also complimented the large
daily doses of exercise. Healthful local produce and fish were wonderfully prepared
and served in hearty portions. I would go back in a heartbeat so I could sit on
the calming beach and soak up the sun.
