The strength of the SomaBodywork Training Program is it’s ability to give new bodyworkers
the ability to see and measure imbalance in the client’s body as well as the hands-on
techniques needed to release that imbalance.
Seeing the imbalance is the key to being an effective bodyworker. If you can see
the imbalance, then you can effectively work to release it. It is like having x-ray
vision. This ability to see inside the client ‘s body is like having a map that
takes you to the exact location of the problem. Without this ability, the therapist
is in effect blind.
The foundation of the program consists of: anatomy, physiology, postural analysis,
practitioner biomechanics (effective body usage to avoid practitioner stress that
can lead to burn out), movement analysis, injury analysis, energy anatomy, five
element theory, Taoist breath work and meditation.
The bodywork techniques used in the training program are: Targeted Soft Tissue Release,
deep tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, segmental neuropathy,
prescription stretching and targeted self-massage.
The SomaYoga Teacher Training course compliments the SomaBodywork program as a healing
technique, with emphasis on understanding the body and providing targeted and modifiable
techniques that can be tailored for each client to support their healing process.
The Yoga and Bodywork programs can be taken together or separately. Strong focus
on anatomy and understanding the human body is the foundation for both programs.
Deep understanding of physical & energetic anatomy empowers SomaYoga and SomaBodywork
practitioners to do precise healing work by tailoring the class or bodywork session
to any student or client with any type of injury or restriction. Yoga and bodywork
support one another as healing systems and complimentary learning experiences, making
an exponentially more powerful healer. It also gives the teacher / therapist an
advantage in the health business world, by giving them multiple ways to approach
healing and the ability to tailor their work to the individual.
