ABOUT NMT

glossary

Neuromuscular Therapy [NMT] is a precise system of soft tissue therapy that can relieve acute and chronic sports / work-related injury. Its foundation of anatomical knowledge allows the therapist to see and measure imbalance in the body, so the exact cause of injury can be easily located. Then the appropriate therapeutic technique can be used to release the injured area. This makes for an effective and lasting treatment.

It is very beneficial for: carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, repetitive strain injuries, rotator cuff injury, frozen shoulder, sciatica, scoliosis, torticollis, whiplash, TMJ dysfunction, hip pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, back pain.

NMT incorporates:

Posture / Gait Analysis – to diagnose the imbalance and provide a direction to the treatment.

Segmental Neuropathy – to create structural homeostasis (balance) in the body by releasing the neurological segments.

Trigger Point Myotherapy – to release restrictions in the soft tissues that can refer pain to other places in the body. Muscle tension headaches are an example of pain commonly caused by trigger points that are often located in the neck or shoulders.

Myofascial Release – to release restrictions in the fascia (connective tissue) that inhibit proper soft tissue function and movement.

Therapeutic Stretching / Exercise – to further rehabilitation and give the client tools to maintain their health (home program).

Biomechanical & Ergonomic Evaluation – to determine dysfunctional movement and work equipment that stress the body and are often the source of health problems.

NMT / SomaBodywork is $150 per hour.
Outcalls are $300 for the first hour, $200 for successive hours.
